Dicumyl peroxide creates carbon-carbon cross-links rather than sulphur bridges, producing vulcanisates with markedly better heat ageing and compression set than sulphur-cured equivalents.
It is the standard cure agent for EPDM, silicone and polyethylene systems where long-term thermal stability is the deciding requirement.
